Are American Black women angry? They have cause to be. However, the more pressing question is, why are we not collectively angry about their historical and present-day abuse? A lack of authority over the body is the legacy that lives in their DNA. From chattel slavery to current-day debasement, the Black woman finds herself isolated on the island of intersectionality. Rendered invisible are the needs of the Black woman living with conditions uniquely her own based on experiences, unlike any others. This has led to a dearth of resources that centers the Black woman’s history of sexual trauma. From a declaration to a decree, the reader is provided a blueprint to help reconcile her relationship with SELF! She is invited to go on a journey of integration that looks backward, inward, and forward, honoring all of her parts and accepting herself in totality. In conjunction with a historical foundation providing context for the need for collective healing, the individual woman is guided toward reconciliation via education, numerous activities that invite contemplation, opportunities for implementation, and an exploration of therapeutic BDSM as a potential form of somatic healing. This version of the book is the result of my doctoral research and a product of my dissertation project titled "Healing the 'Angry Black Woman': A Power Exchange With Your Pain; An exploration of the Potential Healing Powers of Therapeutic BDSM as a Form of Somatic Experiencing in Treating Black Women with a History of Sexual Trauma.
