Summary of Position
The Director of Schools serves as a member of the Administrative District Team of Leman Academy of Excellence (LAE) and is expected to provide leadership and guidance for the school district, Leman families and its scholars. The Director’s primary role is that of an educational/shepherd-leader to help guide site-leadership and administration at each of the Leman Academy campuses, tasked with ensuring the Leman academies meet the School Board approved mission, philosophy, guiding principles, policies, and annual budgetary commitments/constraints.
Line of Authority/Reports to: The Director shall be directly responsible to the CEO of Leman Academy of Excellence.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education; Educational Leadership preferred
- Arizona Principal Certification
- At least five years leadership experience (includes Principal roles) and five years of experience teaching
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Arizona Administrative Certification preferred
- Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision making
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact community, parents, scholars, administrators, faculty, and staff
- Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding the principles of excellence in education
- Working knowledge of learning theory, instructional methodology, curriculum development, teacher observation/evaluation
- Working knowledge and understanding of school finances and operational budget
- Ability to manage conflict resolution with an attitude of humility and service
- Working knowledge and understanding of Classical curricula and learning
- Working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason educational philosophy and methodology
- Working knowledge and understanding of Arizona State and Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards
- Working knowledge and understanding of computers and computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and other applications tailored to specific departmental needs
- Working knowledge and understanding of Data-Driven Instruction
Job Goals:

- Provide leadership and guidance for the academies and scholars
- Identify and develop future leadership talent
- Maintain, and improve, the schools while providing a nurturing and supportive environment

- Evaluate academic programs and extracurricular activities and recommend improvements
- Responsible for the coordination of instructional and other related services and activities that will ensure to build a better reputation for the academies and the school district
- Create, develop and implement new programs that will help in the continuous improvement that are consistent with the organization’s goals
- Assist in scholar enrollment activities
- Promote the educational, moral, social development of the scholars
- Promote and cultivate a culture of caring, citizenship, perseverance, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness within the school community
- Promote the core values of academic excellence, partnering with families, scholars and learning
- Coordinate and assist with creating systematic plans for curriculum development, best practices for instruction, meaningful assessment and professional development
- Support a comprehensive and well planned professional development program
- Assist with the ongoing development and articulation of curriculum maps that support and meet the needs of all scholars through differentiated instruction and the essential learning outcomes
- Support the goals of teaching and implementing the Arizona State and Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards
- Assist with and support professional growth and learning opportunities for faculty through in-services, professional improvement plans, formal and informal evaluations that lead to effective and excellent instruction
- Supervise classroom instructional practices; provide instructional leadership for outcomes, providing faculty and staff direction and collaboration with curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Promote and model excellent qualities in shepherd- leadership, educational leadership, symbolic leadership, and cultural leadership
- Maintain effective lines of communication between the staff and administration, and between administration/staff with Governing Board
- Foster a supportive, partnering relationship between parents and faculty, staff and administration
- Implement and enforce all approved school policies by the board
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
