Rick Wrona is a distinguished executive leader, master strategist, and operational planner, whose career spans over three decades of dedicated service in both military and educational fields. With a rich history of building and enhancing organizations in challenging environments, Rick’s expertise has been shaped on the global stage, from directing security and operational missions across three continents to pioneering strategic initiatives in the educational sector.

As the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Security at Liberty Common School, Rick spearheaded operations for Colorado’s esteemed K-12 charter school, demonstrating a profound commitment to educational excellence and community safety. His visionary leadership extended to Ascent Classical Academies, where he played a pivotal role in founding and managing classical public charter schools, reinforcing his passion for classical education and academic integrity.

Before transitioning to the educational sector, Rick had a decorated military career, including notable roles such as the Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of Defense during the U.S. Ebola pandemic response and a strategy consultant to high-ranking military officials, reflecting his adeptness in crisis management and strategic planning.

Rick holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy. A lifelong learner and educator, he has also contributed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as an assistant professor.
